This makes me insanely sad. Probably because I remember sitting around my grandparent’s kitchen table on Saturday nights, playing cards and watching Golden Girls. They both laughed at so many jokes that I didn’t get until I was much older, which is good– otherwise I would have been mortified by my grandparents laughing about sex. Even thinking about that now creeps me out. Eww.

Anyway, my grandma just turned 96 and is all alone in a stupid suburban Milwaukee “assisted living community.” She can’t really hear anymore, but I hope she still watches Golden Girls.

Picture it– Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, the late 1980s…

I totally swiped this from the Gawker post, but I think it’s lovely…

The First Post

Well, here it goes.

My first post.

Yep.

Sure is lonely in here.

Oh! Wait! I used to have another blog that was rarely updated– it’s here.

Truthfully, I used to be pretty lazy, especially when it came to writing. But I’m a different person now– older, wiser, more refined and focused– so this will be a different blog.

I’m a New Yorker now and I walk really fast and swear at people who go too slow. In Chicago, I used to drive really fast and swear at people who went too slow. Clearly I’ve changed.

So I want to update this blog on a regular basis and I’m going to do it, darn it! There’s a lot going on in the next few months– I’m getting married, working my way up at my first real writing job and I moved to New York recently. Lots of stuff going on. Stick around. If you do, I promise I will, too.
